Job summary

Simply Food Solutions is seeking a Hygiene Operative to maintain high standards of cleanliness in the packing room and production areas. You will clean and sanitise equipment, surfaces, and floors, following hygiene procedures, food safety rules, Health & Safety regulations, and COSHH guidelines.

The role is a weekend shift (Saturday and Sunday, 7am–4pm) with 17 hours per week, temporary contract, and a team-focused environment where accuracy and teamwork are valued.

Qualifications

• Experience following cleaning and hygiene procedures.
• Ability to use cleaning chemicals safely and COSHH rules.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced food production environment.
• Reliable and able to work weekends.

Responsibilities

• Clean and sanitise packing room, equipment, and surfaces.
• Carry out cleaning during hygiene windows and between product changes.
• Remove waste and keep the area tidy and organised.
• Follow COSHH and colour-coded cleaning procedures.
• Complete hygiene checklists and cleaning records.
• Report hygiene or safety issues to Hygiene Team Leader.
• Assist with duties across other factory areas when required.
• Return cleaned equipment to the correct area.
• Carry out additional duties as directed by management.

About the role

Job Title: Hygiene Operative

Responsible to: Team Leader / Team Manager

Main Role:

To ensure the factory and all production areas are kept clean, safe, and hygienic to a high standard. The role involves cleaning and sanitising equipment, floors, surfaces, utensils, and other areas within the packing room, following company hygiene procedures, food safety requirements, Health &Safety procedures, and COSHH regulations.

Main Duties:

• Clean and sanitise the packing room, equipment, tables, work surfaces, trays, trolleys, utensils, floors, and other areas as required.
• Carry out cleaning during hygiene windows and between product changes to prevent cross-contamination.
• Remove food debris and waste and ensure the packing room is kept clean, tidy, and organised.
• Use cleaning chemicals and equipment safely and correctly, following COSHH requirements and colour-coded cleaning procedures.
• Check cleaning equipment and materials are in good condition and report when replacements or additional supplies are needed.
• Complete hygiene checklists and cleaning records accurately as required.
• Follow all food safety, hygiene, Health &Safety, and personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements.
• Report any hygiene, cleaning, equipment, maintenance, or food safety issues to the Hygiene Team Leader or Management.
• Assist with waste disposal, laundry duties, and cleaning other areas of the factory when required.
• Ensure cleaned equipment is properly sanitised and returned to the correct area.
• Carry out any other duties required by the Hygiene Team Leader or Management Team, providing appropriate training has been carried out.

Shift Pattern:

Weekend (Saturday & Sunday) – 7am to 4pm (30 minute unpaid break)
