Qualifications

• Basic understanding of computer networking required.
• Familiarity with IP addresses, subnets, gateways, DNS and DHCP.
• Interest in networking, infrastructure or cybersecurity.
• Enjoy troubleshooting and problem solving.
• Willingness to research when unsure and ask for help.
• Ability to communicate clearly with technical and non-technical people.

Responsibilities

• Assist with day-to-day support and maintenance of network infrastructure.
• Troubleshoot basic network connectivity across wired and wireless.
• Investigate network faults, performance issues and unusual behaviour.
• Support switches, wireless access points, firewalls and other equipment.
• Assist with VLANs, IP addressing, DHCP, DNS and core networking services.
• Identify devices on the network and investigate unknown or unexpected devices.
• Support network cabling, patching, ports and physical equipment.
• Monitor network availability, performance and security.
• Investigate security alerts and suspicious activity.
• Follow IT and cybersecurity procedures when making changes.
• Escalate issues when needed and document fixes.
