Job summary

Gloucester Charities Trust is seeking an Independent Living Officer to support older residents we serve. You will split time between our Gloucester city centre office and four sheltered housing schemes, delivering housing management, resident support and community engagement.

You will conduct welfare visits, inductions, and wellbeing checks while maintaining accurate records and liaising with external agencies. A full driving licence and Enhanced DBS are required.

Qualifications

• Experience in housing or related field required.
• Ability to build positive relationships with residents, families and agencies.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills.
• Comfort with IT systems and maintaining accurate records.
• Ability to work independently with a varied workload.
• Demonstrates empathy, professionalism and safeguarding awareness.

Responsibilities

• Support residents to live independently and maintain tenancies.
• Carry out welfare visits and wellbeing checks.
• Complete inductions and license-related admin.
• Monitor wellbeing and liaise with external agencies and families.
• Identify and report maintenance, safety and property risks.
• Promote resident engagement and community activities.
• Maintain records and ensure policy compliance.
• Respond to emergency alarms and resident emergencies when on duty.
• Assist in housing service development and rent arrears handling.
• Travel between schemes across Gloucester for duties.
