Job summary

Swindon Borough Council is recruiting a Sheltered Housing Officer (part-time, 20 hours per week, Mon–Fri, 8am start) to manage housing services across sheltered schemes. You’ll be a trusted presence, supporting residents to live independently and safely, with health, safety and safeguarding responsibilities.

DBS required and driving licence essential. The role offers a pro rata salary of £33,673 per annum plus benefits.

Qualifications

• Experience delivering housing management, sheltered housing or similar customer-focused service.
• Excellent communication and customer service with older and vulnerable residents.
• Ability to manage a varied caseload and balance priorities.
• Identify support needs, assess risk and work with partner agencies to achieve positive outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Deliver a comprehensive housing management service across sheltered housing schemes.
• Undertake tenancy management activities: inductions, viewings, sustainment, wellbeing checks.
• Manage alarm systems, health and safety checks, scheme inspections.
• Collaborate with Housing, Adult Social Care, Health partners and voluntary organisations to support independence.
