Job summary

WSP is seeking a Primary Design Engineer to deliver HV and EHV transmission substation design from feasibility through to detailed plant specification for projects across the UK. You will produce comprehensive design drawings and specifications, reviewing external designs for compliance and safety.

Responsibilities include coordinating with teams, ensuring program alignment, and travelling as required. A background in AIS/GIS substations and cost estimation will be advantageous, with hybrid

Qualifications

• Minimum HNC Electrical Engineering qualification.
• Experience in HV/EHV substation design (AIS & GIS).
• Experience on 33kV to 400kV projects.
• Ability to interpret technical documentation and produce plant specifications.
• Willingness to travel as required by projects.

Responsibilities

• Produce design drawings for transmission level substations.
• Prepare technical specifications for electrical plant and substation upgrades from 33kV to 400kV.
• Produce feasibility studies, layouts, GA's and plant specifications (transformers, switchgear, batteries).
• Review designs from suppliers/clients for compliance with standards and legislation.
• Ensure designs align with contract requirements, safety and project programs.
• Undertake CDM/Principal Designer duties for HV/EHV projects.
