WSP in the UK & Ireland is looking for an experienced Primary Design Engineer to deliver substation infrastructure for HV/EHV projects, taking design from feasibility to detailed plant specifications.

The role covers 33kV up to 400kV, with opportunities to lead design teams, review supplier designs, and travel to project sites as needed. Hybrid working across the UK is available, with focus on delivering compliant, high-quality substations.

Qualifications

• Experience in HV and EHV substation design (33kV–400kV) including AIS & GIS.
• Ability to interpret technical documentation for substation design.
• Knowledge of engineering standards and policies for HV/EHV plant and equipment.
• The ability to travel as per project needs.

Responsabilités

• Produce a comprehensive suite of design drawings for transmission level substations.
• Prepare technical specifications for electrical plant and substations upgrades from 33kV to 400kV.
• Produce feasibility reports, layouts, GA's and plant specs including transformers and switchgear.
• Review supplier and client designs for technical compliance with standards.
• Ensure designs are delivered in line with contract, programme and budget.
• Undertake CDM Designer and/or Principal Designer roles for HV/EHV projects.
• Identify and manage health and safety risks with the project team.
• Attend site meetings to support design changes during build.
• Ensure design work aligns with programme, quality, and margin.
• Develop external and internal client relationships.
