AECOM in the United Kingdom seeks Cable System Design Engineers to join our Transmission & Distribution team. You will deliver full lifecycle HV/EHV cable projects across the UK & Ireland, from feasibility through to commissioning, interfacing with Grid Operators, developers, and contractors.

The role offers exposure to diverse projects, with hybrid working options and ongoing career development through the AECOM University and industry collaboration.

Formación

• Electrical Engineering degree or HNC in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, or related discipline.
• Experience in HV/EHV cable system design for transmission and distribution projects; FEED experience required.
• Exposure to regulated, quality environments; National Grid experience preferred.
• Understanding of onshore cable routing, burial risk assessments, thermal, electromagnetic, and mechanical analyses.
• Familiarity with IEC, CIGRÉ, and NG-TPs standards.

Responsabilidades

• Contribute to full lifecycle cable engineering packages from feasibility to commissioning.
• Review complex HV cable system designs including route development and burial risk assessments.
• Perform cable rating studies: ampacity, short-circuit forces, thermal stability, EMI analysis.
• Carry out cable pulling, jointing, cleating, and installation feasibility studies.
• Collaborate with civil, structural, substation, and OHL teams for integrated solutions.
• Support third-party inspections and FAT/SAT, installation and commissioning activities.
• Interface with manufacturers, suppliers, and contractors to verify IEC, CIGRÉ, and NG-TP compliance.
