Job summary

Leicestershire County Council is seeking a Network Management Technician to assess permit applications and issue licences for highway works in Croft, Leicestershire. The role requires supporting the Street Works Compliance Inspector and may involve travel across the County outside normal hours.

The successful candidate will have NVQ3 or equivalent or demonstrable experience, strong customer service and IT skills, and a good grasp of highways legislation. Flexible working options are available.

Qualifications

• NVQ3 or equivalent or demonstrable evidence of skills and experience with a commitment to attaining the essential qualifications (supported by Leicestershire County Council)
• Strong customer focus and able to liaise with customers and clients. Applicants must demonstrate good written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience of accurately capturing, storing and retrieving information to meet customer and organisational needs.
• Experience of using IT in a design office/ business environment including Microsoft Office or equivalent software.
• Good verbal and written communication skills and good organisational skills and the ability to prioritise work.
• Although not essential it would be ideal if you have experience of Interpreting and writing technical and non-technical reports and providing technical advice or drawings.
• It would also be useful if you have knowledge of current highways legislation relevant to the service area, CDM regulations & of current highway design standards, construction techniques, asset management principles or maintenance standards.

Responsibilities

• Assess permit applications and issue licences to allow works to proceed.
• Support the Street Works Compliance Inspector, providing information, improvement notices or sanctions, including penalties.
• Monitor progress and report any non-compliance for action.
• Travel to locations across the County as required.
