Job summary

West Northants Council is seeking a Regulations Technician to support the Team Leader in managing activities affecting the highway network. You will handle permits and licences for third-party works, events, and development projects, ensuring compliance with the Highways Act and related legislation.

The role involves responding to customer enquiries, investigating breaches, and contributing to enforcement actions to minimise disruption and keep the network safe for all users.

Qualifications

• Experience processing Section 50/171/184 licences or similar regulatory permissions.
• Knowledge of Highway Act and New Roads and Street Works Act preferred.

Responsibilities

• Process and monitor permits and licences for third‑party works, skips, scaffolding and hoardings.
• Assist with coordinating events, highway works and development projects.
• Investigate potential breaches of regulations and support enforcement actions.
• Respond to customer enquiries and Freedom of Information requests.
