Job summary

Assystem in the United Kingdom is seeking an Electrical Systems Engineer to join the Fusion and Modular Nuclear unit. You will guide the complete design of electrical systems for the SMR power plant, from architecture to equipment selection, using a structured systems engineering approach and close collaboration with cross-functional teams.

Requirements include a degree in electrical engineering, experience in regulated industries, willingness to travel within the UK, and eligibility for BPSS

Qualifications

• Degree in electrical engineering or related field.
• Experience in working in a highly regulated industry.
• Willingness to travel to Assystem offices and customer sites within UK.
• BPSS and SC security clearance required.

Responsibilities

• Review high level electrical requirements including their testability.
• Translate requirements into a validated design for the electrical system/component.
• Capture design constraints and quality attributes that apply to the system/component.
• Document requirements/constraints in line with interfaces and requirements management processes.
• Design and implement electrical designs to meet design inputs.
• Work with Verification to define verification activities.
• Analyse electrical designs using modelling/simulation; develop tests to prove requirements.
• Participate in capacity planning and long-term team goals with managers.
• Identify and mitigate risks.
• Develop and maintain policies, procedures, guidelines and training as required.
• Represent electrical engineering in meetings, working groups and IPTs.
• Collaborate across power station engineering teams for standardisation and commoditised development.
• Ensure quality throughout SMR lifecycle via technical reviews and inputs to gates.
• Discuss electrical design with regulators, customers and suppliers.
