Job summary

AWE plc is seeking a Commercial Capability Manager based in Reading. You will develop and embed a full capability framework covering competencies, training, development and mentoring, identifying skill gaps in Commercial and implementing targeted training to close them.

You will define career pathways, oversee training plans and providers, and work with HR/talent to align processes. The role reports to the Senior Capability Manager and stresses stakeholder management and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Proven professional experience in Procurement or Commercial.
• Experience in HR or related people functions focusing on skills development.
• Strong stakeholder management and ability to influence decision-making.
• Comfortable with ambiguity and changing priorities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• Good analytical and organisational skills; proficient in Excel.
• Attention to detail and ability to work across teams and levels of seniority.

Responsibilities

• Manage and foster relationships with external governing bodies (MOD, DNO, CAB).
• Define the Commercial competency framework and career pathways.
• Plan and manage Commercial training and providers for full leverage.
• Collaborate with wider HR and talent teams for alignment of processes and tools.
• Oversee the Commercial skills and development programme and budget.
• Understand capability development demand and market trends.
• Analyse skills gaps and develop plans to bridge gaps across Commercial.
• Roll out a Commercial mentoring programme to develop internal talent.
