Job summary

AWE plc is seeking a Commercial Capability Manager based in Reading. The role focuses on developing and embedding a full capability framework across competencies, training and mentoring, working closely with department heads to tailor development plans. It reports to the Senior Capability Manager and sits within a broader HR alignment.

The position offers hybrid working, a 9‑day fortnight, and opportunities to influence government and commercial capabilities across the organisation.

Qualifications

• Experience in Procurement / Commercial function.
• Experience in HR or other people related functions with specific experience in skills and development.
• Excellent written and verbal communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Strong organisational and time management skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively across teams and levels of seniority.

Responsibilities

• Develop and embed a full capability framework covering competencies, training, development and mentoring.
• Identify and evaluate skill gaps within Commercial and implement training programmes to bridge gaps.
• Work with department heads to tailor development plans for each role.
• Report into the Senior Capability Manager and align with wider HR processes.
• Oversee Commercial training plans and manage external training providers and budget.
• Analyse market trends in people development to define Commercial requirements.
