Job summary

DXC Technology is seeking an Application Support Engineer for a hybrid role in Reading. The position involves frontline technical support for Windows-based applications, monitoring performance, incident resolution, and collaboration with client teams.

You will handle health checks, patch deployments, and troubleshooting within Production and Non-Production environments, with potential for out-of-hours on-call. A High Level Clearance is required.

Qualifications

• 2–5 years of experience in application support, systems administration, or IT service desk.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a team-oriented environment.
• Windows-based application support experience.

Responsibilities

• Performing early morning health checks to ensure applications are operational before users log in.
• Monitoring, diagnosing, and resolving technical issues related to Windows desktop and server-based applications.
• Managing incoming support requests, ensuring all issues are troubleshot and prioritised according to SLA.
• Assisting in the deployment of software patches, upgrades, and configuration changes across Production and Non-Production environments.
• Actively tracking application health using performance management tools, log files, and automated alerts.
• Investigating Windows Event Viewer and application logs to identify root causes of errors.
• Creating and updating knowledge base articles and 'how-to' guides for common fixes.
• Collaborating with application engineers and liaising with the client regularly.
• Identifying and implementing continual service improvement activities.
