Job summary

DXC Technology in Reading is seeking a Senior Applications Engineer to join the team on a hybrid basis. The role combines on-site work 3–4 days per week with some home-based activities to support a major client’s applications.

You will optimise performance, resolve production issues, and mentor junior staff. The ideal candidate has 5+ years in application support or IT service desk, strong problem-solving abilities, and familiarity with ITIL/ISO standards.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in application support or IT service desk.
• Strong analytical problem-solving and root-cause analysis.
• Ability to work under pressure in live production environments.

Responsibilities

• Perform early morning health checks and ensure applications are healthy.
• Monitor, diagnose, and resolve Windows desktop and server-based app issues.
• Own, troubleshoot, and resolve complex 2nd/3rd line issues within SLAs.
• Plan upgrades, security patching, and impact analysis across environments.
• Create and update guides and knowledge base articles.
• Collaborate with team members and liaise with the client regularly.
• Drive continual service improvement activities with the team.
