Job summary

DXC Technology in Reading is seeking an Application Support Engineer for a hybrid role with 3-4 days on site per week. You will resolve software issues, monitor performance, and perform root cause analysis as part of ongoing Application Management for a major client.

You will triage requests, deploy patches, investigate logs, and contribute to knowledge base articles while collaborating with engineers and the client. A security clearance is required and ITIL background is beneficial.

Qualifications

• 2–5 years of experience in application support or IT service desk.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Windows-based application support experience.

Responsibilities

• Performing early morning health checks to ensure applications are operational before users log in.
• Monitoring, diagnosing, and resolving Windows desktop and server-based application issues.
• Managing incoming support requests, ensuring issues are troubleshot and prioritised according to SLA.
• Assisting in the deployment of software patches, upgrades, and configuration changes across Production and Non-Production environments.
• Actively tracking application health using performance management tools, log files, and automated alerts.
• Investigating Windows Event Viewer and application logs to identify root causes of errors.
• Creating and updating knowledge base articles and how-to guides for common fixes.
• Collaborating with application engineers and liaising with the client regularly.
• Identifying and implementing continual service improvement activities.
