Mobile Building Services Engineer (Commercial Gas Bias)

Post Title: Mobile Building Services Engineer (Commercial Gas Bias)

Hours: 8am - 5pm

Contract: Permanent

Location: 99% within M25 → Head Office: Bishop's Stortford

Call‑out Rota: 1 week in 7

Overtime: Time and a half or double time, plus £150

Current industry guidelines.

Main duties include servicing, general repair/maintenance of breakdowns of gas appliances and central heating systems of client premises. Ensure correct resources and materials are supplied for each job. Ensure the security and correct operation of plant and equipment supplied, including vehicles, flue gas analysis meters and mobile data equipment (e.g., PDA’s). Ensure all certification and documentation are completed accurately in accordance with Data Protection and Information Security regulations. Have high literacy and numeracy. Have a logical and methodical approach to problem solving and fault diagnosis. Maintain concentration and mental focus to follow a problem through to a satisfactory outcome. Deal with potentially angry or upset people and cope with emotional demands. Work as part of a team and independently, showing initiative while completing tasks.

  • Certificate of Asbestos Awareness Training
  • Previous experience diagnosing faults on commercial gas appliances
  • Full driving licence
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Able to manage change
  • Able to work alone and within a team
  • Desirable: Energy Efficiency, DAH1, Unvented Hot Water, WRAS (water supply regulations 1999), Certificate of Training Achievement for Working at Height, Manual Handling, First Aid (1‑Day), or other.

  • Keeping up to date technically and applying new knowledge to your role
