Mott MacDonald in the UK is seeking a Protection Design Interface Engineer to join our Energy unit, Transmission & Distribution division. You will design and implement secondary systems in HV substations, coordinate with primary engineers, and ensure compliance with IEC/IEEE standards while helping deliver projects across UK sites.

A degree in Electrical Engineering, good HV secondary design experience, and strong communication are essential.

Qualifikationen

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• Good level of experience in secondary system design within the HV power industry.
• Strong knowledge of protection and control systems; familiarity with IEC/IEEE standards.

Aufgaben

• Design coordination with primary design engineers and stakeholders.
• Prepare and review technical specifications, drawings, and documentation for secondary systems.
• Prepare interface diagrams, wiring diagrams, cable schedules, and room layouts.
• Perform calculations: battery sizes, voltage drop, and cable sizing.
• Familiarity with HV equipment at 132kV, 275kV, and 400kV for AIS & GIS substations.
• Knowledge of SCADA systems and I/O interface.
• Ensure designs comply with UK standards and client policies.
• Manage secondary design scope and timely delivery within budget.
• Conduct risk assessments and mitigation planning.
• Identify opportunities for design process improvement.
• Maintain effective stakeholder engagement (clients, contractors, regulators).
• Willingness to travel for site visits and surveys.
