Zusammenfassung

National Grid is expanding its Essex team and seeking a mechanically biased engineer to maintain and service substations. The role involves outdoor work, sometimes at height, on a mobile platform, and covering a range of maintenance tasks from inspection to component replacement.

You will gain industry-leading training at the Eakring Training Centre in Nottinghamshire, with occasional stays away from home and paid overtime. A full UK driving licence is required.

Qualifikationen

• A recognised apprenticeship in Mechanical engineering, or an NVQ/Level 3 Mechanical engineering qualification with relevant fitting experience.
• Strong mechanical maintenance, overhaul or installation experience.
• Experience stripping, rebuilding and repairing plant and equipment.
• Confidence using hand tools, power tools, precision measuring equipment and torque tools.

Aufgaben

• Maintain, repair and overhaul equipment to keep National Grid substations operating safely.
• Carry out a wide range of maintenance activities including diagnosing faults and repairs.
• Replace worn and ageing components and install new or refurbished equipment.
• Support planned maintenance and emergency breakdown response.
• Perform routine inspections and condition monitoring.
