Job summary

National Grid is seeking skilled engineers for outdoor maintenance of critical transmission equipment in the Solent area. You will perform mechanical and electrical maintenance, fault finding, and component overhauls, often at height and outdoors, with training provided at the Eakring Training Centre.

Role includes planned maintenance, emergency response, and the use of a company vehicle from home to work. A UK driving licence and safety-focused approach are essential for this position.

Qualifications

• UK driving licence is required.
• An engineering apprenticeship or NVQ/Level 3 in Eng/Mech.
• Experience with mechanical/electrical maintenance and fault finding.
• Comfort working outdoors and at height with safety in mind.

Responsibilities

• Maintain, repair and overhaul electrical equipment in substations.
• Strip, inspect and rebuild mechanical components.
• Replace worn parts and install new or refurbished equipment.
• Support planned maintenance and respond to breakdowns.
