Job summary

InterContinental Hotels Group in Torquay is seeking a Human Resources Advisor to support day-to-day HR operations on a part-time basis. The role is onsite at Hotel Indigo Torquay with flexible shifts to meet business needs.

You will contribute to the People Plan, coach managers on policy and performance, support recruitment and onboarding, and help foster a positive, inclusive culture. CIPD Level 5 is desirable, with strong UK employment law knowledge.

Qualifications

• At least 2 years’ HR Advisor/generalist experience, ideally in hospitality, retail or another fast-paced service environment.
• CIPD Level 5 is desirable; solid understanding of UK employment law and best practice essential.
• Confident advising managers and finding practical, people-focused solutions.
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently.

Hotel Indigo Torquay is looking for a Human Resources Advisor to join our growing team and bring the Hotel Indigo values to life!

Hotel Indigo Torquay brings a vibrant new addition to this idyllic coastal town. Nestled along the stunning English Riviera, the hotel offers guests breathtaking views of Tor Bay and easy access to some of Torquay’s most iconic beaches and walking trails, where nature can be truly appreciated. Close to local attractions, including the historic Torre Abbey and the lively harbour, guests can also indulge in the region's renowned culinary scene featuring fresh seafood and artisanal delights. You’ll support the day-to-day running of the HR function, including administration, HR processes, colleague initiatives, events, projects and policy guidance for managers.

This is a part-time role: 24 hours per week, based onsite at Hotel Indigo Torquay, with flexibility on working days and shifts dependent on business needs.

Your main responsibilities will be:

• Support the People Plan and help create a positive colleague experience.
• Coach and advise managers on HR policy, performance, retention and colleague matters.
• Support recruitment, onboarding and the first 90 days for new colleagues.
• Help identify talent and development opportunities, including early careers activity.
• Use HR systems and data to track activity, share insights and support decisions.
• Deliver colleague survey activity, action planning and consistent HR standards.
• Improve HR processes and ways of working, monitoring progress against objectives.

To succeed as an HR Advisor, you will need:

• At least 2 years’ HR Advisor/generalist experience, ideally in hospitality, retail or another fast-paced service environment.
• CIPD Level 5 is desired but not essential, a good understanding of UK employment law and best practice is essential for this role.
• Confidence advising managers and finding practical, people-focused solutions.
• Strong organisation, attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
• A proactive, resilient and confident approach, with the ability to work independently.
• Confidence using HR systems, reporting and data to support decision-making.
• A clear passion for building a positive, inclusive workplace culture.
