Job summary

Thwaites is seeking a proactive Hotel HR Manager to lead the HR function across the property, partnering with senior leaders to attract, develop and retain great talent. You will manage payroll inputs, absence and attendance processes, coaching managers, and driving the organisation's learning and wellbeing initiatives.

The role requires at least 3 years in HR advisory or above, CIPD Level 5 as a minimum, with Level 7 desirable.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years in HR advisory or above
  • CIPD Level 5 required; Level 7 desirable
  • Hospitality or fast-paced environment experience preferred
  • Strong communication and coaching skills

Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end recruitment and onboarding across departments to attract top talent

Are you passionate about people, hospitality, and creating exceptional workplace experiences? We’re looking for a proactive, people-focused Hotel HR Manager to join our team and play a pivotal role in shaping our culture and supporting our hotel to deliver excellence every day.

As the Hotel HR Manager, you’ll manage the HR function within the property—supporting leaders, developing our teams, and ensuring compliance while making our hotel a brilliant place to work. You’ll partner closely with the General Manager, People Partner and Head of Departments to attract, develop, and retain fantastic talent across the business.

Your day to day:
  • Lead the end-to-end recruitment and onboarding process, partnering with head of departments to attract, assess and appoint high-calibre talent while ensuring a seamless candidate and new starter experience.
  • Deliver engaging and comprehensive inductions, ensuring new team members are effectively integrated into the company, department and culture from day one.
  • Own the preparation and submission of payroll inputs for both four-weekly and salaried employees, ensuring accuracy, compliance and adherence to deadlines.
  • Partner with managers to effectively manage attendance, providing expert guidance and coaching to ensure consistent and fair application of absence management processes.
  • Develop management capability through coaching and support on rota management, payroll forecasting and scheduling best practice.
  • Coordinate and drive the performance and talent review cycle, embedding a culture of continuous feedback, development and high performance.
  • Champion learning and development initiatives by promoting the organisation's training programmes and career development opportunities, including apprenticeship and academy pathways.
  • Monitor training compliance through regular auditing of training matrices and facilitate targeted learning interventions where required.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to managers, providing guidance and coaching across employee relations matters, including disciplinary, grievance, performance and attendance management.
  • Work collaboratively with Heads of Department to proactively manage short and long-term absence cases, leveraging Occupational Health and appropriate interventions to support positive outcomes.
  • Lead employee engagement and wellbeing initiatives, including staff forums and communication channels, to enhance the employee experience and strengthen organisational culture.
  • Ensure robust compliance with employment legislation and company policies, including right-to-work requirements, visa management and mandatory training obligations.
  • Analyse and present people data and key workforce metrics, providing insights and recommendations that support informed decision-making and drive organisational performance
What We’re Looking For:

We are looking for someone with at least 3 years demonstrable experience,who is currently an HR advisor or above, ideally within hospitality or a similar fast-paced environment. You will be qualified in a minimum CIPD Level 5, whilst a CIPD Level 7 is desirable or the equivalent experience.

You will be a confident communicator who can build trust and strong relationships. You will be comfortable with coaching managers and handling employee relations with confidence. Having experience delivering training sessions would be desirable.

You will be someone highly organised with great attention to detail and have the ability to manage a sometimes-reactive workload.
