Ashton Recruitment require a HSEQ Manager for our client based in Annacloy.

Job Title: HSEQ Manager
Location: Annacloy, Co. Down (office and site-based with occasional travel to ROI)
Salary: Circa £50,000 per annum (dependent on experience; potential for higher for exceptional candidates)
Hours: 08:00 - 17:00, Monday to Friday
Contract Type: Temp-to-perm or direct permanent negotiable

Our client is a rapidly growing industrial protective coatings company operating across the UK and Ireland. The business applies specialist paints, antislip coatings, waterproofing, and other industrial coatings both on-site and in dedicated workshop facilities. With a direct workforce of 30 operatives and a total staff of 5, this is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious and driven HSEQ professional to join an expanding business.

The HSEQ Co-Ordinator is a key position responsible for maintaining and implementing Health, Safety, Environment, and Quality (HSEQ) standards across the business. The role will also include minor HR responsibilities and tender support activities. This position requires an experienced professional who can operate independently, manage systems effectively, and ensure compliance with all regulatory and certification requirements.

Key Responsibilities

HSEQ Management:

  • Maintain all external certifications, including ISO 9001, Safe T Cert, NViro Cert, Constructionline, Safe Contractor, and CITB.
  • Support and host third-party audits and inspections alongside the HSEQ Consultant.
  • Assist senior management in creating and maintaining process definitions and work instructions.
  • Conduct internal audits and manage non-conformities to completion.
  • Participate in management system and site-related meetings, recording minutes and reporting actions.
  • Log, investigate, and report customer complaints.
  • Conduct pre-start and in-progress site visits and inspections, preparing reports for internal decision-making.
  • Lead internal investigations and problem-solving initiatives.
  • Drive continuous improvement projects aligned with strategic goals.
  • Promote HSEQ awareness through toolbox talks and site engagement.
  • Assess and document risk assessments and safe systems of work.
  • Oversee HSEQ training matrix, medical surveillance, vehicle and equipment service records, fire safety, EICR, and DSEAR compliance.
  • Deliver and develop weekly toolbox talks and site-specific safety briefings.
HR Duties (minor)
  • Maintain HR policies and procedures.
  • Oversee recruitment, onboarding, and induction of new employees/contractors.
  • Manage staff HR queries and support employee review and appraisal processes.
  • Oversee grievance and disciplinary matters.
Tender Support
  • Monitor online tender portals (e-tenders NI/ROI, e-sourcing) and report opportunities.
  • Manage formal public tender submission processes.
  • Conduct and report on initial site visits.
  • Review contract terms and support contract negotiations.
Essential Criteria
  • Proven HSEQ management experience in a similar industrial setting.
  • Strong knowledge of HSEQ systems, processes, and regulatory compliance.
  • Ability to work independently, manage audits, and drive continuous improvement.
  • Confident in liaising with senior management and regulatory bodies.
  • Full driving licence (company van provided).
  • Willingness to travel within the UK and ROI as required.
  • Enthusiastic, proactive, and capable of setting a strong personal example in HSEQ practices.
Desirable Attributes
  • Previous experience in HR or tender support is advantageous.
  • Strong organisational and communication skills.
  • Ability to engage and influence site teams effectively.
