Overview

HSE Manager – South Shropshire

Hours: Monday - Friday (on-site)

Package: Up to circa £50k per annum (depending on experience)

Role Summary

This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-established manufacturing company seeking an experienced Health & Safety professional to champion a strong safety culture across the business. Reporting to the Operations Director, the HSE Manager will be responsible for overseeing daily Health and Safety and Environmental activities while ensuring full compliance across the site.

Responsibilities
  • Champion EHS Awareness: Foster a proactive safety culture by ensuring all employees understand and adhere to environmental, health, and safety procedures.
  • Drive Compliance & Best Practices: Develop and implement EHS management systems aligned with company policies, industry standards, and legal requirements.
  • Stay Ahead of Regulations: Continuously monitor and interpret government EHS laws and company standards, creating systems and programmes to maintain full compliance.
  • Ensure Excellence Through Audits: Conduct thorough assessments of policies, procedures, and job instructions to uphold the highest level of health & safety standards.
  • Lead Audit Processes: Facilitate both internal and external EHS audits to identify areas for improvement and ensure compliance.
  • Maintain a Safe Workplace: Carry out regular inspections, promptly addressing non-compliance issues and eliminating unsafe practices.
  • Collaborate & Innovate: Engage with other sites and external organisations to adopt the most effective methods for risk and hazard control.
  • Manage EHS Budget: Oversee EHS-related expenditure, ensuring alignment with financial plans while maintaining high safety standards.
  • Investigate & Prevent Incidents: Lead thorough accident and incident investigations, identifying root causes, implementing corrective actions, and updating procedures to prevent recurrence.
Skills and Experience
  • A proven track record in Health & Safety roles within the manufacturing sector.
  • Experience in managing environmental systems would be preferred but not essential.
  • Good knowledge and experience in working with OHSAS18001.
  • Ambitious and driven in character.
  • Previous experience in similar roles such as H&S Manager / HSE Manager / Health, Safety and Environmental Manager or candidates with strong experience at a H&S Officer or HSE Advisor level who are ready to move up into a management position with site responsibility will be considered.
