Freelance HSE Advisor - Onshore Wind Farm Project

We are seeking a freelance HSE Advisor to join a major onshore wind farm development in Scotland. This is a contract opportunity starting in January 2026, supporting delivery during a critical phase of works.

Role Overview

The HSE Advisor will be based on site, leading inductions and monitoring safety standards across daily operations. This role is not limited to office paperwork – it requires a practical presence on site, ensuring compliance and promoting a safe working environment. Candidates with management backgrounds or hands‑on site experience are preferred over purely academic health and safety qualifications, as remote site conditions demand practical expertise.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Delivering site inductions and ensuring all personnel are briefed on safety requirements
  • Monitoring site activities to ensure compliance with HSQE standards and RAMS
  • Providing guidance to site teams and subcontractors on safe working practices
  • Supporting management in maintaining a strong safety culture across the project
  • Preparing and maintaining documentation to demonstrate compliance with statutory requirements
Requirements
  • SMSTS certification & NEBOSH/IOSH
  • CSCS card
  • First Aid qualification
  • Strong background in site‑based health and safety management
  • Practical experience in civil engineering or renewable energy projects
  • Ability to balance site presence with documentation and compliance responsibilities
Contract Details
  • Freelance position, approximately 12‑month duration
  • 10‑hour days, Monday to Friday
  • Accommodation arranged by candidates and added to the day rate if candidate not local to site
  • CIS engagement preferred
