Job summary

Doocey Group, a long-established family-run utility and civil engineering contractor based in Tipton, is seeking an HR Officer to strengthen HR operations across the group. You will oversee recruitment, employee relations, performance management, payroll support and GDPR/compliance, fostering a positive workplace culture.

Qualifications

• Minimum five years' experience in a generalist HR role.
• Strong working knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practice.
• Proven experience managing employee relations cases, including disciplinaries, grievances, absence and performance management.

Responsibilities

• Provide professional HR advice and guidance to managers and employees across the Group on employee relations, policies and employment law.
• Manage employee relations matters, including disciplinary, grievance, absence management, performance management and appeals.
• Support and coach managers in investigations, fact finds, formal meetings and decisions.
• Monitor absence levels and support sickness absence reduction.
• Lead and coordinate recruitment activities for hourly and salaried vacancies and ensure compliance with legislation.
• Deliver onboarding and corporate induction programmes for a positive employee experience.
• Ensure all HR documentation and records are processed accurately and within statutory timescales.
• Produce HR metrics and reports on recruitment, attrition, absence and workforce trends.
• Support payroll administration including timesheet processing and payroll inputs.
• Conduct exit interviews and provide management with feedback to support retention.
• Develop and improve HR policies and processes; ensure GDPR, Equality Act compliance.
• Promote a positive organisational culture, diversity and inclusion.
• Support development and coaching of HR team members and managers.
• Deliver training and awareness initiatives relating to HR processes and data protection.
