City of Edinburgh Council is seeking an experienced HR Consultant to join the HR Case Management Team on a fixed-term contract until August 2027. The role focuses on managing absence cases and delivering practical, people‑focused advice to managers, guiding them through processes from start to finish.

You will quickly build relationships, handle an active caseload, and contribute to achieving organisational priorities while ensuring policy, procedure and employment law guidance is applied to

Qualifications

• Experienced HR practitioner with a track record of managing complex absence cases.
• Ability to provide guidance to managers and senior leaders across council services.
• Experience preparing reports and analysing case data and trends.
• Ability to build relationships quickly and manage an active caseload.

Responsabilités

• Manage a caseload of predominantly absence cases and provide practical advice.
• Support managers through processes from start to finish.
• Prepare and content related reports for internal and external audiences.
• Analyse case data and trends, raising risks and mitigation recommendations.
• Proactively manage stakeholders and keep them updated on case progression.
