Job summary

Middlesbrough Council is seeking a motivated Housing Solutions practitioner to assess homelessness, develop personal housing plans, and liaise with partner services. You will work to prevent homelessness and support service users through creative, collaborative approaches, documenting information accurately and communicating clearly with stakeholders.

• Aim to prevent homelessness wherever possible using creative and collaborative methods.
• Carry out investigations to support statutory decisions making through the application process.
• Make referrals to relevant commissioned and non-commissioned services.
• Work as part of a Housing Solutions team to prevent and relieve homelessness.
• Record information accurately and in a timely manner.
• Communicate effectively with colleagues, applicants and stakeholders.
• Work a duty rota Monday–Friday with blended working options (home and office).

We are looking for someone who can:

• Carry out homelessness assessments in line with the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017 also Domestic Abuse Act 2021.
• Aim to prevent homelessness wherever possible using creative and collaborative methods.
• Carry out thorough investigations to support statutory decisions making throughout the application process, assess the needs of the service user and formulate a personal housing plan.
• Be responsible for making referrals to relevant commissioned and non-commissioned services.
• Be creative and innovative in your approach to supporting people at risk of homelessness.
• Work as part of a wider Housing Solutions team to prevent and relieve homelessness wherever possible.
• Record information accurately and in a timely manner.
• Effectively communicate with colleagues, applicants, and stakeholders.
• Be part of a service that provided housing advice / support, Monday – Friday, working on a duty rota.

Whilst in post there will be development opportunities alongside flexible working within the option of a blended working environment (home and office where appropriate).
