Job summary

Middlesbrough Council is recruiting for an 18-month fixed term Housing Solutions role in Tees Valley. The post focuses on assessing homelessness, preventing homelessness, and formulating personal housing plans in collaboration with service users and partner agencies.

You will work on referrals to commissioned and non-commissioned services, maintain accurate records, and communicate effectively with applicants and stakeholders. Flexible/blended working and full induction are available.

Qualifications

  • Experience delivering homelessness assessments under relevant legislation (Homelessness Reduction Act 2017; Domestic Abuse Act 2021).
  • Ability to work creatively with services to prevent homelessness and formulate personal housing plans.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out homelessness assessments in line with the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017 and Domestic Abuse Act 2021.
  • Prevent homelessness using creative, collaborative approaches and support statutory decision making.
  • Referrals to commissioned and non-commissioned services as needed.
  • Record information accurately and promptly; communicate effectively with applicants and stakeholders.
  • Work as part of Housing Solutions on a rota, Monday–Friday, with blended working options.

We have an exciting, 18-month fixed term opportunity for a motivated individual to join the Housing Solutions team.

We are looking for someone who can:
  • Carry out homelessness assessments in line with the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017 also Domestic Abuse Act 2021.
  • Aim to prevent homelessness wherever possible using creative and collaborative methods.
  • Carry out thorough investigations to support statutory decisions making throughout the application process, assess the needs of the service user and formulate a personal housing plan.
  • Be responsible for making referrals to relevant commissioned and non-commissioned services.
  • Be creative and innovative in your approach to supporting people at risk of homelessness.
  • Work as part of a wider Housing Solutions team to prevent and relieve homelessness wherever possible.
  • Record information accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Effectively communicate with colleagues, applicants, and stakeholders.
  • Be part of a service that provided housing advice / support, Monday – Friday, working on a duty rota.

Whilst in post there will be development opportunities alongside flexible working within the option of a blended working environment (home and office where appropriate).
