Durham County Council is seeking a Housing Officer to play a key role in preventing and relieving homelessness. This vacancy is temporary until October 2027 to cover a period of maternity leave, or until the return of the substantive postholder from maternity leave, whichever is sooner
Working with customers, landlords and partner agencies, you will provide advice, assess housing and support needs, and develop Personal Housing Plans to achieve positive housing outcomes.
The successful candidate will have strong communication skills, experience of supporting vulnerable customers, and the ability to manage a varied workload effectively.

You should be qualified to NVQ Level 2 or equivalent and have experience of working within a housing, homelessness or support related service.
You should have knowledge of housing and homelessness legislation and have experience of providing support to vulnerable people.
