Job summary

Barnsley Council is seeking a dedicated housing officer to join our safer communities team. You will manage temporary accommodation, conduct tenancy sign ups and ensure properties meet required standards while supporting customers to settle and move on.

The role involves working with vulnerable clients, identifying risk, coordinating with partners, and using home visits and lone working where needed. A Basic Criminal Record Check is required and sponsorship is not offered.

Qualifications

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Experience in housing or frontline support desirable.
• Ability to manage workload under pressure and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Manage temporary accommodation properties and ensure standards.
• Assist residents with tenancy sign ups and moves.
• Liaise with contractors and other partners to resolve issues.
• Identify risk and contribute to support planning for residents.
