Job summary

Birmingham City Council is seeking a Localities Housing Officer to deliver an effective housing management service. You will manage a varied caseload, address tenancy breaches and respond to complaints while working to sustain tenancies and improve service delivery.

You will work with residents, colleagues and partner agencies to resolve housing issues, provide practical advice and maintain accurate records. A DBS check and right-to-work in the UK are required.

Qualifications

• Experience in housing management and tenancy matters.
• Knowledge of relevant housing legislation and policies.
• Ability to engage professionally with residents and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Manage complex housing management cases and tenancy breaches in line with policies.
• Investigate complaints and anti-social behaviour and take appropriate action.
• Advise residents on tenancy options, welfare benefits and budgeting to sustain tenancies.
• Collaborate with statutory and voluntary organisations and participate in multi-agency meetings.
• Provide information on housing options including social and private tenancies and mutual exchanges.
• Maintain accurate case records and monitor performance against targets.
• Ensure compliance with housing legislation, equality, data protection and health and safety.
