Job summary

As a Housing Officer you will deliver high quality housing management, provide excellent tenancy service, and work with external agencies to resolve welfare issues while ensuring compliance with safety standards.

Qualifications

• Literacy and numeracy equivalent to passes in GCSE English and Maths.
• NVQ3 in relevant area.
• Proven experience of analysing and diagnosing problems and implementing solutions.
• Proven experience of delivering high quality tenancy services.
• Proven experience of good practice resident involvement activities.
• Good negotiation and presentation skills.
• Travel is a requirement of the role; a full valid driving licence is essential.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high quality housing management services meeting the needs and expectations of residents and the wider community.
• Provide an effective tenancy and resident customer service in line with policies and procedures.
• Manage tenant expectations regarding repairs and escalate property maintenance issues affecting tenant welfare.
• Deal with complaints focusing on first contact resolution and learning from feedback to improve service.
• Collaborate with external agencies to resolve issues affecting tenant welfare including safeguarding.

Housing Officer

Basildon based with a balance of home and office working

£35,947 per year

37.5 hours per week – Monday to Friday, 9.00 to 17.30

Temporary position for up to 12 months

We have an opportunity for a Housing Officer to join our team of 8 Housing Officers, based in Basildon. As a Housing Officer, you will be responsible for the management of a patch of social housing properties and tenancies in the Basildon area.

The role of Housing Officer will include:

• Delivering high quality housing management services meeting the needs and expectations of current and future residents and the wider community
• Providing an effective tenancy and resident customer service which is in line with policies and procedures
• Managing tenant expectations regarding repairs and escalating any property maintenance issues affecting tenant welfare via appropriate channels
• Dealing with complaints about service delivery focusing on first contact resolution and learn from this to help to develop an excellent customer service
• Working with colleagues in other service areas to help the organisation meet its compliance obligations (fire safety, water hygiene, gas safety and data protection)
• Delivering general advice on all aspects of tenancy to enable sustainability
• Working with a range of external agencies to resolve a range of issues affecting tenant welfare including; domestic abuse, anti-social behaviour and safeguarding
