Job summary

Sanctuary Housing Association in Basildon is seeking a Housing Officer to join our team, managing a patch of social housing and tenancies in Basildon, with a balance of home and office working.

The role focuses on delivering high quality housing management, tenancy services, and working with external agencies to support residents.

Qualifications

  • GCSE English and Maths (or equivalent) literacy and numeracy required.
  • NVQ3 in a relevant housing/estate management area.
  • Experience diagnosing problems and implementing solutions.
  • Proven experience delivering tenancy services.
  • Good practice resident involvement activities.
  • Valid driving licence required.

Responsibilities

  • Delivering high quality housing management services meeting the needs and expectations of current and future residents and the wider community
  • Providing an effective tenancy and resident customer service which is in line with policies and procedures
  • Managing tenant expectations regarding repairs and escalating any property maintenance issues affecting tenant welfare via appropriate channels
  • Dealing with complaints about service delivery focusing on first contact resolution and learn from this to help to develop an excellent customer service
  • Working with colleagues in other service areas to help the organisation meet its compliance obligations (fire safety, water hygiene, gas safety and data protection)
  • Delivering general advice on all aspects of tenancy to enable sustainability
  • Working with a range of external agencies to resolve a range of issues affecting tenant welfare including; domestic abuse, anti-social behaviour and safeguarding

Housing Officer

Basildon based with a balance of home and office working

£35,947 per year

37.5 hours per week – Monday to Friday, 9.00 to 17.30

Temporary position for up to 12 months

We have an opportunity for a Housing Officer to join our team of 8 Housing Officers, based in Basildon. As a Housing Officer, you will be responsible for the management of a patch of social housing properties and tenancies in the Basildon area.

The role of Housing Officer will include:
  • Delivering high quality housing management services meeting the needs and expectations of current and future residents and the wider community
  • Providing an effective tenancy and resident customer service which is in line with policies and procedures
  • Managing tenant expectations regarding repairs and escalating any property maintenance issues affecting tenant welfare via appropriate channels

  • Literacy and numeracy equivalent to passes in GCSE English and Maths
  • NVQ3 in relevant area
  • Proven experience of analysing and diagnosing problems and implementing solutions
  • Proven experience of delivering high quality tenancy services
  • Proven experience of good practice resident involvement activities
  • Good negotiation and presentation skills
  • Travel is a requirement of the role, therefore a full valid driving licence is essential
