Job summary

CPR is seeking an experienced Housing Advisor in London to help prevent homelessness by providing tailored advice, support and practical housing solutions to residents.

You will conduct needs assessments, develop personalised housing plans and liaise with partners to coordinate accommodation solutions, while managing a busy caseload and meeting performance targets.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in housing advice and homelessness prevention.
• Strong knowledge of homelessness legislation, particularly the Homelessness Reduction Act and Housing Act 1996.
• Experience undertaking housing assessments, managing complex caseloads and developing housing plans.
• Excellent communication, negotiation and problem-solving skills in a busy environment.

Housing Advisor - London - 30.67 per hour Umbrella

A London Local Authority is seeking an experienced Housing Advisor to join its team and help prevent homelessness by providing advice, support and practical housing solutions to residents.

Key Responsibilities

• Prevent and relieve homelessness in accordance with the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017, Housing Act 1996 and relevant legislation.
• Conduct housing needs assessments and develop personalised housing plans.
• Manage a complex caseload of priority and non-priority customers, maintaining accurate case records and meeting performance targets.
• Provide housing advice, advocacy, negotiation and mediation to help residents remain in their existing accommodation wherever possible.
• Assess and investigate homelessness applications, advising customers of decisions and available options.
• Deliver a customer-facing service through face-to-face appointments, drop-in sessions and telephone advice.
• Explore alternative housing options, including private rented accommodation, to minimise the need for temporary accommodation.
• Assess temporary accommodation requirements and coordinate placements where necessary.
• Work collaboratively with internal teams and external partners to achieve positive outcomes for residents.

Essential Experience

• Proven experience in housing advice and homelessness prevention.
• Strong knowledge of homelessness legislation, particularly the Homelessness Reduction Act and Part VII of the Housing Act 1996.
• Experience undertaking housing assessments, managing complex caseloads and developing housing plans.
