Vivid Resourcing Ltd is assisting a local authority in Haywards Heath to recruit a Homelessness Prevention Officer on an interim basis. You will manage a caseload of households at risk of homelessness and help prevent homelessness through personalised housing plans.

You will assess cases, decide on homelessness duties, work with landlords and partners to secure accommodation, and maintain accurate records within statutory timescales.

Formación

• Experience in homelessness, housing options or housing advice roles.
• Knowledge of the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017.
• Experience managing a caseload and meeting statutory deadlines.
• Experience carrying out assessments and making decisions on homelessness duties.
• Strong communication and empathy in sensitive conversations.
• Good organisational skills and ability to prioritise a varied workload.
• Experience with housing case management systems and Microsoft Office.

About the role

Our client, a local authority, is looking for a Homelessness Prevention Officer to join their housing team in Haywards Heath on an interim basis. The role involves working with households who are at risk of homelessness, helping to prevent it wherever possible and supporting people towards secure, sustainable housing.

You will manage a caseload of cases from first contact through to resolution, carrying out assessments, developing personalised housing plans and working with a range of partners to find practical solutions. The position suits a housing professional who is comfortable working independently, prioritising a busy caseload and handling sensitive conversations with empathy and clarity.

The successful candidate will bring sound knowledge of homelessness legislation, good judgement and clear communication. This is a hands‑on assignment where your experience will be put to work from the outset.

• Experience managing a caseload and working to statutory deadlines
• Experience carrying out assessments and making decisions on homelessness duties
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to handle sensitive and challenging conversations
• Good organisation and the ability to prioritise a varied workload
• Competence with housing case management systems and Microsoft Office
• The ability to work from Haywards Heath
