Job summary

The FCA is recruiting a Household Claims Handler in Bolton (BL7) for a full-time on-site role. You will manage household claims from first notification to settlement, ensuring accurate cover checks and timely updates to customers.

The role requires 12 months of household/property claims experience, solid phone-based customer service, and GCSEs in English and Maths (A-C/4+). Up to £28,000 and a sedentary, 35-hour work week are offered.

About the Role

We are recruiting a household claims handler for an established, FCA-regulated general insurance business on the edge of Bolton. They are adding to their household claims team after taking on a significant new contract.

What you will be doing

• Running your own caseload of household claims from first notification through to settlement: escape of water, storm, accidental damage, theft, buildings and contents
• Checking policy cover and gathering the information needed to move each claim forward
• Appointing and managing suppliers on behalf of the policyholder
• Keeping customers updated clearly and honestly throughout
• Spotting and referring potential fraud

What you will need

• Household, home or property claims experience. Around 12 months is plenty, and validation, home emergency or desktop claims experience counts too. Strong insurance customer service backgrounds will also be considered.
• Confidence on the phone and across multiple systems
• GCSEs (or equivalent) at grade C/4 or above in English and Maths
