Marine Hotel Ballycastle is seeking an experienced General Manager to lead the team and drive performance across all hotel operations, with a strong focus on delivering memorable guest experiences and a vibrant food and beverage proposition.

You will be highly visible across the property, partner with regional and central teams, develop and manage budgets and forecasts, and build a high-performing, inclusive hospitality culture that supports the hotel’s growth and local community partnerships.

Qualifications

• Experience as GM or senior hotel leader in a quality hotel.
• Strong hands-on F&B background with dining experiences.
• Passion for hospitality and guest experience.

• Strong budgeting and profitability management.
• Experience in NI hospitality market advantageous.

Job description

We are looking for an experienced and commercially focused General Manager to lead the team at Marine Hotel Ballycastle.

Situated on the spectacular Causeway Coast, the Marine Hotel enjoys an outstanding location overlooking Ballycastle Marina and the surrounding coastline. This is an exciting opportunity for an energetic hotel leader to build on the hotel’s success, further develop its food and beverage offering and deliver an exceptional experience for both residents and local guests.

Food and beverage is central to the hotel’s identity and future growth. We are therefore particularly interested in candidates with a strong, hands-on F&B background who understand how to create compelling dining experiences, build a loyal local customer base and deliver consistently strong commercial results.

The Role

As General Manager, you will take full responsibility for the leadership, commercial performance and day-to-day operation of the hotel. You will be highly visible throughout the property, working closely with departmental leaders and engaging directly with guests and team members.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Providing clear, visible and inspirational leadership across all areas of the hotel.
• Taking full ownership of the hotel’s financial and operational performance.
• Leading the development and delivery of a distinctive, high-quality food and beverage experience.
• Driving restaurant, bar, events and function revenue while maintaining strong cost control.
• Building the hotel’s reputation as a destination for both visitors and the local community.
• Developing annual budgets, forecasts and commercial plans.
• Monitoring payroll, purchasing, margins and departmental profitability.
• Maintaining consistently high standards of guest service, presentation and operational delivery.
• Recruiting, developing and retaining a talented and engaged hotel team.
• Creating a positive, accountable and inclusive working culture.
• Working closely with the regional and central support teams to deliver wider business objectives.
• Ensuring full compliance with health and safety, licensing and all other relevant legal requirements.
• Building productive relationships with local businesses, tourism partners and community stakeholders.

About You

You will be an accomplished hotel operator with the confidence, energy and commercial awareness to lead a busy property successfully.

The successful candidate will have:

• Previous experience as a General Manager, Hotel Manager, Deputy General Manager or senior operational leader within a quality hotel.
• A strong background in food and beverage operations, ideally including restaurants, bars, events and functions.
• A genuine passion for hospitality and creating memorable guest experiences.
• A hands-on and highly visible leadership style.
• Strong commercial awareness, including experience of budgeting, forecasting and managing departmental profitability.
• A proven ability to grow F&B revenue, control costs and improve margins without compromising quality.
• Experience of developing concepts, menus, service standards or local-market F&B activity would be particularly valuable.
• Excellent people leadership skills and a track record of building engaged, high-performing teams.
• The ability to balance strategic planning with active involvement in the daily hotel operation.
• Strong communication, organisation and stakeholder-management skills.
• Knowledge of the Northern Ireland hospitality market would be advantageous, although it is not essential.
