Job summary

North Cumbria Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust is recruiting a Housekeeper (Band 2) at Cumberland Infirmary, Carlisle. You will join the Elm A/HASU team, delivering high quality cleaning, meal assistance support, and patient privacy maintenance in a 43-bed acute stroke care area.

The role requires good communication, reliability and ability to work in a fast-paced hospital environment. 75 hours per fortnight across shifts; closing date 11 November 2026. NHS benefits apply.

Qualifications

• NVQ 1 in hotel services/food service or equivalent.
• Experience in customer service/caring environment.
• Health care or hospital housekeeping experience.
• Basic food hygiene and infection prevention knowledge.
• Excellent communication, ability to prioritise, and team work.
• Willing to undertake training.

Responsibilities

• Assist with meal rounds and serve patients meals/drinks.
• Assist with feeding patients and update relevant documentation.
• Order weekly stores and put away deliveries.
• Routine cleaning and basic maintenance of equipment.
• Report equipment and environmental issues.
• Replenish ward supplies including linen and maintain patient privacy.
