Job summary

Octave Recruitment Ltd invites applications for an experienced Homelessness Advisor to join a busy housing service in Derby. You will assess applications and provide guidance to individuals facing homelessness, navigating challenging housing situations with care.

Role requires prior homelessness or housing advice experience, strong communication, and the ability to manage a demanding workload. Immediate start and a 3+ month contract are available, with a focus on compassionate, professional

Qualifications

Experience in homelessness services or housing advice is required.
Knowledge of homelessness legislation and procedures.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to manage a busy workload and prioritise tasks.
Calm, empathetic and professional when supporting vulnerable customers.

Responsibilities

Assess and support individuals who are homeless or threatened with homelessness.
Process homelessness applications and respond to housing enquiries.
Apply relevant homelessness legislation, policies and procedures.
Handle Home Office discontinuation notices, particularly in private rented sector.
Manage a busy caseload while handling high volumes of calls and emails.
Explain complex decisions clearly, sensitively and professionally.
