Job summary

Nottingham City Council is seeking a Housing Advisor to promote the council’s vision and priorities while delivering best value housing services. The role focuses on providing housing advice, preventing homelessness, and assisting in the allocation and management of temporary and supported accommodation for citizens in housing need.

The post requires IT proficiency, strong communication, and knowledge of the Housing Act 1996. A professional DBS check and English language competency are essential.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in IT systems including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
• Ability to communicate complex issues face to face with tact and customer care.
• Understanding homelessness and the Housing Act 1996 to assess duties to citizens.
• General safeguarding knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Intervening on behalf of people facing homelessness.
• Advocating to prevent homelessness.
• Administering accommodation resources and maintaining data records.
• Assisting inquiries under the Housing Act 1996 VII (as amended).
