Job summary

Cardiff Council is seeking an Accommodation Officer to source and secure housing for people who are homeless or at risk, assess needs and coordinate placements in partnership with providers and Housing Options. You will work across gateways and with partner agencies to optimise resources and meet demand.

Qualifications

• Experience of working with vulnerable individuals, ideally within housing, homelessness, domestic abuse, safeguarding, or support services.
• The ability to assess needs, risks, and accommodation suitability in a sensitive and professional manner.
• Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage a busy and demanding caseload.
• Excellent communication and partnership-working skills, with the confidence to work effectively across a range of services and organisations.
• An understanding of housing, homelessness, safeguarding, and equality principles, or the ability to quickly develop this knowledge.
• A commitment to delivering person-centred services that promote safety, dignity, and positive outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Assess housing needs, risks and accommodation suitability to identify suitable options, including emergency accommodation, supported accommodation, temporary accommodation and move on opportunities.
• Coordinate placements, manage referrals and help ensure accommodation resources are used effectively to meet demand.
• Work across Accommodation Gateways and with accommodation providers, Housing Options and partner agencies.
• Support single adults, families, young people, prison leavers, victims and survivors of domestic abuse and other vulnerable groups.
• This post is based at various locations and services throughout Cardiff, including Central Library Hub, Cardiff Royal Infirmary and Cardiff Prison.
