Job summary

Serencroft Care Homes, an independent care provider with Gable Court in Romford, is seeking an experienced Home Manager to lead day-to-day operations and quality of care as the CQC Registered Manager.

You will oversee a multidisciplinary team, manage budget and resources, ensure compliance with CQC standards, and build strong relationships with residents, families, commissioners and the Serencroft leadership team.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Registered Manager in a CQC-regulated care or nursing home.
• NVQ/QCF Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care or working towards equivalent.
• Strong leadership and people-management skills.

Responsibilities

• Act as the home’s CQC Registered Manager and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Lead, motivate and develop the staff team including recruitment and performance management.
• Ensure compliance with CQC standards and health and social care legislation.
• Drive continuous improvement in care quality and safety.
• Manage the home’s budget, occupancy and resources.
• Oversee care planning, risk assessment and safeguarding.
• Build relationships with residents, families, commissioners and stakeholders.
• Lead internal audits and external inspections.
• Champion Serencroft values and commitments.

About Us

Serencroft Care Homes is an independent care provider operating five residential and nursing homes across England, including Gable Court in Romford. We are CQC-regulated and B Corp certified, and we work in partnership with NHS commissioners and local universities to deliver high-quality, person-centred care. We are looking for an experienced, values-led Home Manager to lead Gable Court and build on its position as a safe, high-quality home for residents and a great place to work for staff.

The Role

As Home Manager, you will hold overall responsibility for the day-to-day leadership, operational performance and quality of care at Gable Court, acting as the home's CQC Registered Manager. You'll lead a multidisciplinary team, manage the home's budget and resources, and be the driving force behind a culture of safe, compassionate, person-centred care — working closely with residents, families, commissioners and the wider Serencroft leadership team.

Key Responsibilities

Act as the home's CQC Registered Manager, holding responsibility for regulatory compliance and statutory notifications

Lead, motivate and develop the home's staff team, including recruitment, supervision, appraisal and performance management

Ensure compliance with CQC fundamental standards and all relevant health and social care legislation

Drive continuous improvement in care quality and safety, working towards and maintaining strong CQC ratings

Manage the home's budget, occupancy and resources effectively

Oversee care planning, risk assessment and safeguarding practices across the home

Build and maintain strong relationships with residents, families, NHS commissioners, local authorities and other stakeholders

Lead on internal audits, external inspections and quality assurance processes

Champion Serencroft's values and B Corp commitments in the day-to-day running of the home

Report regularly to the senior leadership team on performance, quality and compliance

Requirements

Proven experience as a Registered Manager within a CQC-regulated care or nursing home — essential

NVQ/QCF Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care (or working towards equivalent qualification)

Track record of leading a care home to strong CQC outcomes

Strong working knowledge of CQC regulations, safeguarding practices and relevant health and social care legislation

Excellent leadership, communication and people-management skills

Right to work in the UK

Willingness to undergo an Enhanced DBS check
