Job summary

Tradewind Recruitment LTD. in Blackburn is seeking a qualified Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join an Alternative Provision (AP). You will support targeted learning, work with SEMH needs, and assist with lesson delivery and behaviour strategies.

This role offers weekly pay between £100 and £145 per day, long-term temporary with potential permanent transition, and a chance to develop professionally through CPD and specialist support.

Qualifications

• HLTA status or Level 4+ qualification with classroom experience.
• Experience supporting SEMH or challenging behaviour in AP/SEN settings.
• Enhanced DBS check or willingness to apply via Tradewind.

Responsibilities

• Deliver Targeted Learning: Support small groups and individuals with tailored academic and behavioural interventions.
• Classroom & Cover Management: Confidently lead classes and implement lesson plans set by teaching staff when required.
• SEMH & Pastoral Support: Build positive, trusting relationships with vulnerable pupils, acting as a supportive mentor to help regulate behavior and build emotional resilience.
• Collaborative Working: Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and external agencies to track student progress and adapt strategies.
• Foster an Inclusive Culture: Create a safe, engaging, and structured environment where disengaged learners feel valued and encouraged to succeed.
