Job summary

Tradewind Recruitment is seeking an Alternative Provision Teaching Assistant for a Milton Keynes setting. The role focuses on supporting pupils with SEMH and behavioural needs within a smaller, personalised environment.

Ideal candidates have prior experience in AP or SEN settings; a TA qualification is advantageous but not essential if you have relevant experience. This is a full-time, temp-to-perm opportunity with potential for long-term placement.

Qualifications

• Experience in Alternative Provision or SEN settings is beneficial.
• Demonstrates resilience, empathy and ability to support SEMH needs.
• A relevant TA qualification is advantageous but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Supporting pupils within lessons and providing 1:1 or small-group intervention where required.
• Building positive, consistent relationships with pupils and acting as a trusted and reliable member of the support team.
• Supporting pupils with SEMH and behavioural needs, using a calm and consistent approach.
• Encouraging pupils to engage with learning and helping them recognise and celebrate their progress.
• Supporting classroom behaviour and helping to maintain a safe, structured and positive learning environment.
• Working alongside teachers and pastoral staff to implement individual strategies and support plans.
• Helping pupils develop their communication, social skills, independence and confidence.
• Providing encouragement and reassurance to pupils who may have had negative experiences of education.
