Protocol Education Limited is recruiting for a Higher Level Teaching Assistant to work within a secure children’s unit in Morpeth. The role involves supporting the delivery of engaging learning, building positive relationships and helping young people develop academically, socially and personally.

The position requires experience as HLTA/TA/LSA or similar, with the ability to work calmly in challenging situations, and a commitment to safeguarding and professional boundaries within a structured

Are you an experienced HLTA, Teaching Assistant or education professional looking for a role where your work can make a genuine difference?

Protocol Education is recruiting for a Higher Level Teaching Assistant to work within a secure children’s unit in Morpeth, supporting young people who may have experienced significant challenges in their lives and education.

This is a rewarding role for someone who can build positive relationships, remain calm in challenging situations and provide consistent support to young people who may find education difficult.

The Role

As an HLTA, you will support the delivery of engaging and accessible learning, working alongside teaching staff and the wider team to help young people develop academically, socially and personally.

Your responsibilities may include:

• Supporting and delivering lessons and learning activities
• Working with individuals and small groups
• Adapting activities to meet individual learning needs
• Supporting young people with behaviour and emotional regulation
• Building positive, professional relationships
• Encouraging engagement and participation in education
• Maintaining clear boundaries and expectations
• Supporting safeguarding procedures
• Working closely with teachers and other professionals
• Providing consistent support within a structured environment

About You

We are looking for someone who is:

• Experienced as an HLTA, TA, LSA, youth worker or similar
• Confident supporting young people with challenging behaviour
• Calm, patient and emotionally resilient
• Able to establish positive professional relationships
• Confident managing difficult situations appropriately
• Consistent with boundaries and expectations
• Passionate about helping young people make progress
• Able to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team

Experience within SEMH, PRU, alternative provision, residential care, secure settings or specialist education would be beneficial.
