Job summary

Protocol Education is recruiting experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistants (HLTAs) for primary schools across south Bristol. These roles offer short-term and long-term opportunities to lead learning, support pupil progress and work with teachers to plan and assess activities.

You will deliver planned lessons, support pupils individually and in groups, and help raise attainment in reading, writing and maths within a supportive school environment.

Qualifications

  • HLTA status or substantial HLTA experience in primary education.
  • Confident leading whole-class learning when required.
  • Experience supporting pupils across the primary age range.
  • Calm, patient and adaptable approach.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.

Responsibilities

  • Delivering planned lessons during PPA cover and teacher absences.
  • Supporting pupils one-to-one and in small intervention groups.
  • Helping children develop confidence, independence and a positive attitude towards learning.
  • Supporting progress in core subjects including reading, writing and mathematics.
  • Adapting activities and resources to meet individual learning needs, including SEND.

Protocol Education is working with welcoming and supportive primary schools across south Bristol to recruit confident and dedicated Higher Level Teaching Assistants (HLTAs) for a range of short-term and long-term opportunities.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced HLTA who enjoys taking an active role in the classroom, supporting pupils' progress and confidently stepping in to lead learning when required. The Role

As a Higher Level Teaching Assistant, you'll play a vital role in supporting teaching and learning across the school.

Your responsibilities may include:

  • Delivering planned lessons during PPA cover and teacher absences
  • Supporting pupils on a one-to-one basis and in small intervention groups
  • Helping children develop confidence, independence and a positive attitude towards learning
  • Supporting progress in core subjects including reading, writing and mathematics
  • Adapting activities and resources to meet individual learning needs, including SEND
  • Working collaboratively with teachers to plan, deliver and assess learning activities
  • Monitoring pupil progress and providing feedback to teaching staff
  • Promoting a positive, inclusive and engaging learning environment

Pay

£95 - £105 per day
Paid weekly

A Bit About You
  • HLTA status or substantial experience working at HLTA level within primary education
  • Confident leading whole-class learning when required
  • Experienced supporting pupils across the primary age range
  • Strong understanding of effective teaching and learning strategies
  • Skilled at supporting children with a range of needs, including SEND
  • Calm, patient and adaptable approach
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
  • Reliable, proactive and able to work effectively as part of a school team
What We Need To Clear You
  • Passport / proof of right to work in the UK
  • Two proofs of address, such as a driving licence, utility bill, council tax bill or P45/P60
  • CV covering the last 10 years of work or education, with any gaps explained
  • Two years of references, including education or childcare references where applicable
  • Overseas Police Check if you have lived abroad for three months or more in the last five years

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
