Job summary

TeacherActive is seeking a confident Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) for a full-time position at a welcoming primary school in Smethwick, Sandwell. The HLTA will support class teachers, lead learning when required, and deliver targeted interventions across the school.

Ideal candidates hold a recognised HLTA qualification and have experience in primary settings, with SEND/EAL experience beneficial. Strong communication and teamwork are essential for collaboration with teachers and support

Qualifications

• HLTA qualification/status required.
• Experience in primary school settings.
• Availability to work full-time, Monday to Friday.
• Ability to lead whole-class learning when required.
• Experience supporting pupils with SEND and/or EAL where possible.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Support teachers with engaging lessons and activities.
• Lead whole-class learning during planned teacher absence or PPA.
• Deliver targeted interventions to individuals and small groups.
• Support pupils to access the curriculum.
• Adapt activities to meet diverse learning needs and abilities.
• Promote positive behaviour and maintain classroom expectations.
• Monitor pupil engagement and provide feedback to staff.
• Build positive relationships with pupils and staff.
