Job summary

Bincombe Valley Primary School in Dorset is seeking an outstanding Higher-Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to support and lead the SEND provision within the main school. HLTA status is essential for this role and the fixed-term position starts 4 January 2027, during term time only, with hours 8:30am-3:15pm (30 hours per week).

You will work with class teachers across year groups to plan and deliver lessons, create tailored interventions, and help the SENDCo assess pupil progress, including

Qualifications

• HLTA status is essential for the role.
• Paediatric First Aid qualification is desirable.
• Nursery/EYFS experience is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Supporting and teaching children with EHCPs and additional needs.
• Working with class teachers to plan and deliver lessons across year groups.
• Creating tailored interventions and helping assess pupil progress.
• Providing small-step targets based on EHCP outcomes.
• Implementing positive behavioural strategies and de-escalation techniques.
• Liaising with the SEND Team, SENCO and Headteacher.
• Attending internal and external meetings regarding the students.
• Liaising with staff to enable learning within main school classes.
