Who we’re looking for

We are seeking a part‑time Archivist (2 to 3 days per week, with flexible working arrangements and onsite working due to the nature of the role) who is passionate about the value that history can add to an innovative, client‑focused business.

The Schroders Archive contains around 1,500 m of largely business records dating from 1817 to the present day, with the majority from the 20th century. The Archive also holds c350,000 MB of digital records.

The base

Our new HQ in the City of London (2018) is located in the heart of the UK's financial centre, providing flexibility for all employees.

What you’ll do
  • Interpret and communicate our history for people, clients and other stakeholders.
  • Ensure the preservation and professional management of over 200 years of paper and digital archive collections.
  • Develop and implement active digital collecting initiatives.
  • Review and maximise the potential of our digital preservation system.
  • Develop and implement oral history collecting.
  • Encourage and facilitate the use of the archive by external researchers.
  • Review and implement archive policies.
  • Ensure discovery and cataloguing are fit for purpose.
  • Respond to enquiries.
  • Build strong relationships with key stakeholders across the business and beyond.
  • Support and protect our corporate reputation and history, with sensitivity to cultural differences.
The knowledge, experience and qualifications you need
  • Postgraduate qualification in archive management.
  • Experience in the care of archive collections.
  • Experienced user of archive collection management and digital preservation systems.
  • Good understanding of descriptive and authority standards, including ISAD(G).
  • Good understanding of GDPR and other relevant legislation.
The knowledge, experience and qualifications that will help
  • Previous experience working in a listed‑company environment or within financial services is advantageous but not essential.
  • Previous experience with CALM and Preservica is highly advantageous; training can be provided.
  • Interest in 20th‑century financial and business history.
