Job summary

Recruited UK is seeking an experienced Hire Controller / Hire Desk Controller to join a leading construction and equipment hire company.

You will coordinate plant, powered access, tool hire, lifting equipment and material handling to ensure equipment is available and delivered on time. You will act as the link between customers, engineering and transport, handling enquiries and maintaining high service standards.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in Plant Hire, Powered Access, Tool Hire, Lifting Equipment or Material Handling.
• Experience working in a hire desk or similar customer-facing environment.
• Excellent customer service, communication and IT skills.

Responsibilities

• Handle customer hire enquiries via phone, email, and online systems.
• Monitor and update equipment availability in internal systems.
• Coordinate with engineering to ensure equipment is prepared and ready.
• Work with transport to arrange timely delivery and collection.
• Be a friendly and professional point of contact for customers and colleagues.
• Ensure high level of service throughout the hire process.
• Support depot in achieving operational and customer service targets.
• Follow company procedures, compliance and health & safety requirements.

Job description

We have an excellent opportunity for an experienced Hire Controller / Hire Desk Controller to join a leading company within the construction and equipment hire industry.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with experience in Plant, Powered Access, Tool Hire, Lifting Equipment or Material Handling who enjoys working with customers and coordinating equipment, engineering and transport to ensure everything runs smoothly.

As a Hire Controller, you will be the key link between customers, the engineering team and transport department, ensuring the right equipment is available, prepared and delivered to customer sites on time.

Location:

Candidates must have the following skills, experience and qualifications to be considered:

• Previous experience within Plant Hire, Powered Access, Tool Hire, Lifting Equipment or Material Handling
• Experience working within a hire desk or similar customer-facing environment
• Excellent customer service skills
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Good Microsoft Office and general IT skills
• Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks
• Ability to work effectively under pressure
• Strong attention to detail
• A proactive and helpful approach

Key responsibilities will include:

• Handling customer hire enquiries via telephone, email and online ordering systems
• Monitoring and updating equipment availability on internal systems
• Coordinating with engineering teams to ensure equipment is prepared and ready
• Working closely with transport teams to arrange timely delivery and collection
• Acting as a friendly and professional point of contact for customers and colleagues
• Ensuring customers receive a high level of service throughout the hire process
• Supporting the depot in achieving operational and customer service targets
• Ensuring company procedures, compliance and health and safety requirements are followed
